South Carolina: Vehicle passenger killed by steel beams in crash

A passenger in a van died after the van hit steel beams that extended off the back of a truck, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The coroner identified the passenger as Andres Perez-Lopez, 28, of Greer,

Troopers said it happened about 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday on Highway 14 near Interstate 85, approximately three miles south of Greer.

Troopers said a van was traveling west on Highway 14 and hit a flatbed truck that was turning into a driveway.

Perez-Lopez, who was in the right front seat of the van, died when the van hit steel beams that extended off the back of the truck, troopers said.
